23-year-old IIT Delhi student committed suicide in hostel room
The deceased's friend, along with a security guard of IIT, broke open the hostel room's door when he didn’t respond.
A 20-year-old B Tech student of Indian Institute of Technology-Delhi (IIT-Delhi) allegedly committed suicide in his hostel room, police said on Sunday.
According to police, the deceased, identified as Ayush Ashna, a resident of Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly, allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling of his hostel room.
The hostel staff informed the police about the incident which took place late on Saturday night at around 12 midnight.

A senior police official said Ayush had recently appeared for final exams of B Tech.
Police said that they didn’t recover any suicide note from the possession of the deceased and were trying to ascertain the exact reason behind his extreme step.
“He was a student in the fourth year of IIT. Ayush committed suicide by hanging himself in his Udayagiri hostel last night around 12 o’clock. 20-year-old Ayush was a resident of Bareilly of UP. However, the reason for the suicide is being ascertained through investigation,” the police official said.
“His family members have been informed and we are further looking into the matter,” the official said.
